Plastics have become an integral part of our daily lives, bringing improvements, convenience and cost savings. Plastics are highly versatile materials and have helped to shape our economies in the past century. While delivering many benefits, plastics also account for numerous complex issues.
Encouraging circular design of sustainable plastic products and services, collection and recycling of plastic waste, reducing the use of micro plastics and cleaning up marine litter. A lot of challenges remain. Optimizing plastics manufacturing, use, recycling and disposal is crucial. We can and must jointly tackle these issues, at an international level.
With dedicated people and experts from the entire plastics value chain, we will come together for two days to create real circular breakthroughs which will be incorporated in the EU Strategy on Plastics. Together we will strive to create the right conditions to close the plastics loop.
The EU Conference on Plastics is about collaboration, passion, and circular and innovative thinking. How can we reach a positive tipping point in the face of the numerous problems that we face with plastics? What should be done differently tomorrow? You can play a key role in this transition and build new partnerships for action. We will cover a diverse range of topics and issues pertaining to the whole plastics value chain in these two days.
